broken heart

Someone you hold dear to your heart dies. It doesn’t matter who it is; husband, father, wife, grandmother, son or daughter, It is never easy. As a matter of fact it is just downright hard!

You are left with the memory of their life.  The sound of their voice will forever remain in your ears. Their smell will come upon you and even sometimes it might seem as if they are still right there, next to you, sharing a touch, smile or even a laugh!

It is up to you, to bring your life back into some type of normalcy, even though a person that was dear to your heart in every way, is no longer with you.

How can this be done? What kind of direction can we find to guide us on our daily path, with a hole in our heart?

The first step  is to trust in The Lord.

Psalms 34:18 ESV  The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

2 Peter 1:3 tells us that we are given all things that pertain to this life, as well as to godliness, if we will just seek it out!

The shortest verse in the bible is given to Jesus, upon the realization that someone very dear to him had died. John 11:35 simply says, “Jesus wept.”

The Lord knows your pain, trust in Him…

first stepThe second step  is to realize that, as his children, nothing can separate us from the love of God.

The first century Christians at Rome were being persecuted to the point of death. Family and Friends were being cruelly treated by those in power and suffering was abounding everywhere.

In the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans, Paul gives them some encouragement.

Romans 8:35-39 ESV  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?  (36)  As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”  (37)  No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  (38)  For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,  (39)  nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 stepsThe third step  is to acknowledge, Your life is just beginning! Never forget that God’s love for you is eternal and you can always turn to Him for comfort and guidance!

Ps. 40:4 effectively tells us, “Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust…”

Being grounded here, in this place, it is hard for us to imagine anything other than the turmoil that fills our lives…

As a child of God, there is always hope…

(21:4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
